What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Engineer position at Solar Gain?
We're seeking a Project Engineer to join our Commercial Operations team to provide administrative and technical management of Commercial and Industrial (C&I) solar projects. This position involves traveling for up to two weeks at a time, working throughout California and Arizona to visit job sites.
Strong professional communication skills are essential in this role to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to manage activities related to pre-construction planning, crew management, reporting, contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, scheduling, and materials inventory.
Prefer someone with demonstrated success in the following areas:
• Adhering to OSHA, NFPA, state and local codes, and Solar Gain’s safety protocols.
• Manage two or more project pipeline(s) throughout Arizona and California.
• Professional demeanor and positive attitude to supported a work environment that is both productive and free from harassment, bullying, or other negative influences.
• Respond favorably to coaching and guidance for direction and learning.
• Execute strategies to plan, manage, and complete projects within budget while upholding Solar Gain's operation, safety, quality, and service standards.
• Complete pre-construction surveys, preliminary take-offs, material ordering, equipment scheduling, work plans, project forecast tables, project logs, and internal pre-construction meetings.
• Oversee subcontractor bidding and scheduling, customer pre-construction meetings, and special inspections.
• Inspect and verify that solar systems are code-compliant, ensuring company-established procedures were adhered to with minimal quality issues in mechanical, civil, and electrical construction.
• Submit reports and other documentation timely, including weekly progress reports, invoice approvals, time approvals, subcontractor agreements, change order documents, MRF submittals, budget analysis, equipment checklists, commissioning documents, and specialty checklists (Canopy Steel Release, Powerkill Checklists, etc).
• Submitted closeout documentation, conducted customer walkthroughs, and verified Solar Grade completion reports timely.
