We are seeking a Paint Line Manager to oversee and optimize our paint line operations.

This role is ideal for recent engineering graduates eager to grow their careers and make a difference.

No prior management experience is required-we'll provide comprehensive on-the-job training to help you succeed. In this position, the Paint Line Manager will be leading our efforts in the implementation of new technology and the development of new processes that will significantly improve our finish quality, lower our costs of manufacturing, and improve our competitive posture in the marketplace.

This position is located in our Taylorsville, Mississippi manufacturing facility and will report directly to the Plant Manager. This role will work with our Engineering team, representatives of our Finishing Suppliers, Equipment Manufacturers, Corporate Staff, and Paint Line employees to implement projects, complete initiatives and drive change.

Some of these initiatives will include :

  • The modification of our (2) Paint Lines to facilitate the utilization of multiple colors in a flow through system without downtime and related costs and waste associated with color changes.
  • Increasing our Paint Line speeds to optimize the overall capacity of the plant and greatly improve plant productivity in the process.
  • Defining hang line patterns that optimize the utilization of application space, improving transfer efficiency, and reducing our cost of manufacturing.
  • Conceptualizing Standard work documents to define best practices and utilizing those procedures to increase the skill sets and improve the contributions of Line Operators.
  • The implementation of effective Reliability Based Maintenance methodology to introduce countermeasures to implement preventive interventions to minimize expensive downtime and unplanned repairs. In this role, the incumbent will also be a people leader, as all Paint Line employees will report directly to this position.

In addition, the Paint Line Manager will be directly accountable for the attainment of all operational goals associated with the line as it pertains to the Safety of departmental Employees, the Quality of the products produced on Paint Line Equipment, the meeting of production schedules and the attainment of hourly production expectations, and the management of all production costs related to paint materials utilization and labor expenditures. What you'll do

  • Lead and develop a team that fosters collaboration using a people-first mindset that empowers your team to meet production goals.
  • Defines safe work practices for all paint line processes including pre-treatment washers, dry off ovens, paint booth equipment, paint curing ovens, and all conveyance.
  • Uses RPI to facilitate Employee buy in into the discovery process, to define risk in the operations, and to work with the Engineering function to mitigate known hazards.

    Reduces the Companies and our Employees exposure to risk liabilities.

  • Guides and develops Paint Department personnel (Powder Coat Painters / Powder Coat Associates) in the creation of and compliance with best practices (Standard Work)
  • Defines and develops hang patterns that optimize the concentration of product in production space that assure effective transfer efficiencies.
  • Optimizes paint application at or below defined utilization standards.

  • Provides for the continued loading / hanging of manufactured product onto the paint line per defined standards in support of daily production goals.
  • Provides for the daily cleanliness and basic maintenance of the electrostatic paint system.
  • Assures that all paint hooks are cleaned to best practices and that those hooks are replaced when necessary to assure effective transfer efficiency.

    Assures that the paint chain and the paint dogs are perpetually cleaned and maintained and are kept in good operating order.

    Assures that both paint booths are thoroughly cleaned to defined standards between paint changes and at the end of the production day.

    Assures that all paint modules and related paint components are properly cleaned and maintained to assure effective paint flows.

  • Works as a liaison between the Company and its Powder Coat Supplier(s).
  • Optimizes material composition to assure productivity and quality goals are met.

  • Develops / Implements Quality Control plans to ensure the composition and application of materials to meet or exceed Customer and USPS standards for appearance, functionality, and performance.
  • Completes and documents performance testing daily, retains samples and records in support of all regulatory requirements.

  • Develops and executes effective Preventive Maintenance activities to optimize Paint Line Equipment availability.
  • Reduces mean time between failures.

    Uses thermal imaging / vibration analysis to predict failure rates.

    Provides timely and effective PM interventions to improve line effectiveness. What we need

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering, Business Operations, or similar fields.
  • 0 - 2 years of experience in powder coat operations or production operations.

  • Candidates must be local or willing to relocate to the Taylorsville area.
