Job Description
Solar Industries is a family-owned manufacturer specializing in windows, skylights and doors. We are currently looking for an experienced Facility Assistant Maintenance Manager to join our growing family. The assistant manager will manage and train staff in all building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, safety, and waste. Must follow safety standards, OSHA compliance, lockout tagout procedures, conform to specifications, and that work orders are tracked and completed within the budgeted guidelines. Purchasing and sourcing needed equipment and may oversee contractors engaged for facility renovation projects and help facility layouts to optimize production. The Facility Assistant Maintenance Manager would report to the Facility Maintenance Manager.
Experience
This candidate must have experience in:
- Mechanics and trouble shooting
- Electrical 110volt to 480v 3 phase
- Welding MIG and TIG
- Electronics
- Electronic diagnostics and trouble shooting
- Fabrication
- Tool and Die machines
- CNC controlled equipment and programming
- Pneumatics
- Purchasing, sourcing and purchase orders
- Some experience in Engineering
- OSHA compliance and safety procedures
Essential Responsibilities
- Support and oversee the facility maintenance department regarding the building maintenance, major overhaul of equipment, machinery, electrical, fabrication of parts, air conditioning and heating system, adjustment, system design changes and calibration, and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic controls.
- Assist manager in performing daily inspection of facility buildings, doors, and all other building and support areas.
- Recognize problems and facilitate repairs before breakdown occurs.
- Ensure written instructions are drafted, maintained, and complied with.
- Assist in establishing, monitoring, and meeting performance standards.
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, and training employees.
- Assist with time and attendance records.
- Maintain complete repair order records.
- Inspecting conveyors, facility, machinery, and power equipment routinely.
- Ensuring all aspects of power equipment is functioning properly.
- Ensuring emergency lighting, exit signs, and fire extinguishers are properly maintained, labeled, and inspected.
- Coordinating outside vendor equipment repairs.
- Recording materials/items received or distribute.
- Ensuring flammable/toxic liquids are properly stored and labeled.
- Ensuring all propane/oxygen bottles are stored correctly.
- OSHA compliance, safety, and lockout tagout procedures.
- Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities and directing work of subordinate employees to meet production deadlines.
- Work with Engineers and Facility Manager on special projects and facility layouts to optimize production.

- Ability to accurately document production data and employee performance.

Position
Fulltime non-exempt. Schedule is Monday-Friday 6am-3pm with occasional overtime and occasional Saturdays. Compensation $30 - $35hr doe

Work Environment
Work is performed in a warehouse/loading dock setting. Work may, on occasion, involve exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.
