Machine Operator
Solar Tech is seeking a committed individual, experienced in manufacturing, to join our team as a Machine Operator. This role is designed to execute the production of solar boards to produce the highest quality product.
Job Summary:
A machine operator is responsible for a variety of machine controls to drill holes, tap holes, and cut parts according to specifications. In this position the machinery this role will be working with includes drill press, aluminum saw, punch press, tapping drill, air tools, bender.
This position reports to the Production Supervisor
Onsite only, Monday through Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm
Job Duties:
· Machine Setup: Set up and prepare the drill press machine for operation, including installing the appropriate drill bits, adjusting the drilling speed, and securing the workpiece to the machine's table.
· Read and Interpret Blueprints: Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, or project specifications to determine the precise locations, dimensions, and specifications for drilling holes.
· Operate Drill Press: Safely operate the drill press machine to drill holes in various materials, such as metal, aluminum, or plastic, according to the specified requirements and quality standards.
· Adjustments and Monitoring: Make adjustments to the drill press settings during the drilling process to ensure accuracy, depth, and alignment of the holes. Monitor the operation to maintain consistent quality.
· Quality Control: Inspect the drilled holes for accuracy, depth, and quality. Identify and address any issues that may affect the final product, making adjustments as necessary.
· Maintain Equipment: Perform routine maintenance on the drill press machine, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as needed. Report any malfunctions or issues to maintenance/Supervisor.
· Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines, protocols, and proper usage of required PPE while operating the drill press.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, including the specifications of each project, adjustments made to the machine, and any quality control measures taken.
· Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and address any issues that may arise during the drilling process, such as tool malfunctions, material inconsistencies, or deviations from project specifications.
· Efficiency and Productivity: Work efficiently to meet production targets and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of workmanship. Meet or exceed time study.
· Utilize all measurement tools to ensure accuracy
· Perform all other tasks or requirements as needed
· Maintain a clean and organized workspace
Qualifications:
· Proven ability to read a tape measure down to a 64th of an inch.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
· Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
· Knowledge of safety requirements and best practices.
· Ability to use tools and equipment safely and effectively.
· Strong problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment, up to 100 pounds.
· Ability to move where needed based on workload
· Work overtime as needed
