Position Overview
The Mechanical Assembly Technician will be responsible for assembling mechanical products by connecting components and ensuring that all parts fit together accurately. This position requires reading and interpreting blueprints, performing precision measurements, and utilizing a variety of hand and power tools to assemble components into larger units. The Mechanical Assembly Technician will work closely with other team members to ensure that the final product meets all specifications and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to assemble mechanical products accurately.
  • Select, modify, or fabricate components according to measurements and specifications to ensure correct fit and functionality.
  • Take accurate measurements to guarantee the proper alignment and fitting of parts.
  • Align parts and components to build larger, more complex units with precision.
  • Inspect the assembled components for defects and ensure all output meets high-quality standards.
  • Collect and organize necessary materials and equipment for each project.
  • Keep assembly tools, equipment, and machinery in good working condition and report any malfunctions or defects.
  • Maintain detailed records of production quantities, time, and any issues that arise during the assembly process.
  • Work closely with other assemblers to ensure the final product meets specifications and is completed on time.
  • Test and inspect finished components for uniformity, performance, and quality to ensure they meet all required standards.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical assembly preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Strong technical expertise and excellent manual dexterity
  • Experience with large machinery is preferred
  • Familiarity with standard assembly tools and equipment
  • Good understanding of quality control principles and best practices
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to stoop, reach, stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • May be required to climb stairs, kneel, or crouch to access equipment or retrieve materials
