Quality Supervisor
Position Overview
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the quality control and inspection processes for custom solar power systems and electrical control panels. This role ensures that all products meet the company’s quality standards and comply with industry regulations. The Quality Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining and improving quality standards, leading and developing a team of inspectors, fostering a culture of continuous improvements, and driving quality improvements across all departments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, train, and manage a team of quality inspectors to ensure thorough and accurate inspections.
- Lead daily inspection meetings to prioritize the inspector's daily work.
- Create and implement inspection procedures and checklists for custom electrical control panels.
- Ensure all products meet company quality standards and industry regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, procedure or work instruction revision control, and quality control activities.
- Develop, document, and implement inspection procedures and protocols.
- Regularly update procedures to align with evolving industry standards and company goals.
- Manage Non-Conformances to ensure timely corrective and preventive actions by all departments.
- Monitor quality metrics and prepare detailed reports for management.
- Analyze data to identify trends, root causes of defects, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety and quality standards, including ISO and other industry certifications.
- Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits as required.
- Identify areas for improvement in the inspection process and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and procurement teams to address quality issues and improve product quality.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and quality standards, including industry-specific regulations.
- Prepare and present quality reports to senior management.
- Establish, manage, and maintain calibrated equipment certification.
- Maintain existing certification listing reports with Intertek for UL standards.
- Managing efforts to expand presence on customer’s “Approved Manufacturer” lists
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably in solar power systems, electrical control panels, or related industries
- Strong leadership and team management skills, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency in quality control software and tools
- Certifications such as ISO 9001 or similar are preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles preferred
- Familiarity with regulatory standards in the solar and electrical industries preferred
- Proficiency in quality management software and tools preferred
Work Environment and Physical Requirement
- This position requires working in a manufacturing environment with electrical components and machinery exposure
- Occasional travel may be required for supplier audits and training
- Standard hours are 8 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday
