Position Summary
The Network Engineer is responsible for assisting with the architecture, configuration, installation and support of network hardware and related software. This position will monitor and maintain LAN / WAN hardware / software and assist with resolution to problems within the network and server infrastructure.
Essential functions and responsibilities :
- Determines company needs and coordinates the development and maintenance of network infrastructure with the IT team.
- Identifies and assists with the resolution of network and data issues.
- Ensures secure and stable server connectivity.
- Optimizes intranet and inter-site WAN performance.
- Configures network routing on routers and layer 3 switches.
- Implements secure network communication with 3rd parties.
- Develops network monitoring metrics and alerting policies.
- Tests data exchange and communication between computers, routers, switches, and servers.
- Resolves complex network problems, provides support to other team members, and escalates issues to senior staff.
- Analyzing and prioritizing incoming support requests.
- Running diagnostic tests and performing repairs, as well as developing backup, archiving, and data retrieval procedures.
- Takes ownership of issues, communicates clearly with others, pursues self-development and shares resources / knowledge with coworkers and customers.
- Training junior IT staff, preparing user manuals, and providing remote or onsite technical support. Enhancing network security, as well as documenting network processes and cabling layouts.
- Keeping informed of developments in network technologies and infrastructure.
- Supports and assists with documentation, workarounds for problems and changes to systems.
- Supports and assists with the execution of disaster recovery and business continuity processes and events.
- Assists with after hours on call support.
