About the Opportunity
Solaris is seeking an experienced Insurance Risk Manager to oversee the organization’s insurance programs, assess potential risks, and ensure adequate coverage to protect company assets, employees, and operations. The Insurance Risk Manager will collaborate with internal teams and external brokers to design and implement risk mitigation strategies, manage claims, and maintain compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Essential Functions
Insurance Program Management:
- Develop, implement, and oversee the company’s insurance portfolio
- Negotiate with insurance brokers and carriers to secure cost-effective coverage that meets company needs.
Claims Management:
- Coordinate with insurers, legal teams, and employees to manage claims efficiently, from initial reporting to resolution.
- Investigate incidents to determine coverage applicability and mitigate future risks.
- Maintain detailed records of claims and outcomes for reporting and analysis.
Management of Certificates of Insurance – both issued to Company and for Company
- Collect, review, and verify COIs from vendors, contractors for compliance
- Issue COIs to customers as required
- Maintain an organized database of COIs, tracking expiration dates and initiating renewal requests
- Resolve discrepancies or deficiencies in COIs, coordinating with external parties to obtain compliant documentation
Cost Control and Budgeting:
- Evaluate insurance costs and recommend strategies to optimize premiums while maintaining adequate protection.
- Prepare and manage the insurance budget, providing forecasts and variance reports

Experience/Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., ARM, CRM, CPCU) is preferred.
- 5 years of experience in insurance, risk management, or a related field with a proven track record of managing corporate insurance programs, preferably in industries with complex operational risks
- Understanding of insurance products
- Familiarity with contract review to identify insurance obligations.
- Strong analytical skills to assess risks and interpret insurance policies.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills for working with brokers, carriers, and internal teams.
- Proficiency in risk management software, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and data analysis tools.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
