Solaris HealthCare is seeking a Transportation Aide to join our team!
Job Summary:
The Transportation Aide is to provide safe transport of patients, personal effects, requisitions, specimens, charts, and miscellaneous items and assist with patient transport activities as required
Major Duties and Critical Tasks:
- The Transportation Aide is responsible for transporting patients and/or specimens upon request.
- Transports patients using wheelchairs and with stretcher transports.
- Transports specimens to the laboratory, and delivers blood and blood products in a timely manner.
- Picks up slides for physicians to review from laboratory as requested.
- Obtains supplies from central supply as requested.
- Participates/uses the automated systems in a timely and accurate manner to assist with patient throughout.
- Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
- Assists with environmental duties in departments or units including pick up and disposal of recycling/trash receptacles; also linen removal from laundry bins to proper disposal area such as chutes for collection as requested.
- Adheres to the standards identified in the facility’s Organizational Competencies.
Experience and Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Speaks, reads and writes English.
- Prior experience in a health care setting is preferred.
- Ability to work in an organized and professional setting.
- Must complete in-house orientation program.
- High school diploma and 30 college credits or associate degree.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
