Purpose of Your Job Position
The primary purpose of your job position is to support the efforts of the Activities Director in the assessing, selecting, organizing, and implementing of recreational services to address the individualized needs and interests of the overall resident/patient population within the center, in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and Solaris HealthCare’s established policies and procedures.

- Assists in the development and delivery of therapeutic recreational services to promote the residents’ opportunities for engaging in normal life enhancement pursuits and to increase and/or maintain functioning levels.
- Maintains precautions/limitations list on each resident.
- Encourages resident participation in group and individual activities including arts/crafts, community outings, religious activities, intellectual/educational activities, community/center service activities, recreational activities, etc.
- Assists in completing activity documentation, when needed.
- Copies forms for activities, as needed.
- Submits supplies list to Activity Director and submits receipts for activity expenditures.
- Assists Activity Director in the organization and supervision of the volunteer program including recruiting and training volunteers.
- Assists with Resident Council Meetings when necessary.
- Assists in planning community activities that jointly include the community, staff, families and residents.
- Assists in the completion of a monthly calendar of available recreational services and posts it in the center.
- Supports each resident’s right to self determination; Documents resident refusal of activity services offered; informs resident of any therapeutic alternative to the refused service.
- Assists in the development of the Center Newsletter, as applicable.
- Implements activity programs in the absence of the Activities Director, as applicable
- Coordinates activities of Welcoming Committee including obtaining weekly list of new residents, purchasing flowers, and preparing them for committee welcoming events.
- Charts individual resident’s attendance and participation in both group, individual and one on one recreational pursuits daily.

Education
High School Diploma with course work in recreation is desirable; Ability to read and write, required. Completion of a state approved activity-training course is preferred but not required.
Experience
Previous experience in leading recreational activities, arts/crafts, intellectual/educational activities, community outings, etc., desired.
