Qualifications
- Education :
- Master's or Specialist Degree in School Psychology (or a closely related field) from an accredited institution.
- Doctoral degree in School Psychology (preferred but not required).
- Licensure / Certification :
- New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) Certificationas a School Psychologist (P-12).
- ValidNew Jersey School Psychologist Licenseissued by theNew Jersey State Board of Examiners.
- Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP)credential (preferred, but not required).
- Successful completion ofNew Jersey Criminal Background Checkthrough the New Jersey State Police and the FBI.
- CPR and First Aid Certification(preferred but not required).
- Experience :
- Experience working as a school psychologist in a school setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with504 plans,IEPs, and other educational and behavioral planning tools.
- Knowledge of developmental psychology, educational assessments, and mental health resources.
- Skills and Abilities :
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, educators, and administrators.
- Knowledge of psychological testing, assessment tools, and interventions.
- Ability to identify and address behavioral and emotional challenges in children and adolescents.
- Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and work independently.
- Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, cultures, and needs of students.
- Organizational skills to maintain accurate and timely records and reports.
- Understanding of federal and state laws related to special education and student mental health.
