- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education from an accredited institution.
- Valid South Carolina Special Education Teacher Certification for the appropriate grade level and disability area (e.g., K-6, 6-12, Mild/Moderate, Severe).
- Certification must be issued by the South Carolina Department of Education.
- Must pass South Carolina background checks and fingerprinting.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting is preferred, but not required.
- Experience with IEP development and progress monitoring is a plus.

- Develop, implement, and assess Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction, tailored to meet the specific learning needs of students.
- Adapt and modify general education curriculum to support students unique learning styles.
- Regularly monitor and document students' progress toward IEP goals and make adjustments to instruction as necessary.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and other school staff to ensure the inclusion and success of students in the general education environment.
- Maintain clear and accurate records, including IEP documentation, progress reports, and behavioral observations.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities.
- Implement positive behavioral support strategies and ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Serve as a resource for families, providing guidance and support in understanding their childs educational journey and needs.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and South Carolina state requirements.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, child development, and effective instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
- Ability to create and implement engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Proficiency in classroom management, promoting positive behavior, and maintaining a safe and supportive classroom environment.
- Organizational skills for managing multiple IEPs, progress reports, and other documentation.
