Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our team for the uping school year in Benedict, MN. As a crucial member of our special education department, you will play a pivotal role in assessing, planning, and implementing occupational therapy interventions for students with disabilities or developmental delays. Your expertise will contribute to enhancing students' functional independence and participation in school activities.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct prehensive assessments and evaluations to determine students functional capabilities, strengths, and areas of need related to sensory processing, fine motor skills, visual motor skills, self-care, and activities of daily living.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and goals based on assessment findings, in collaboration with educators, parents, and caregivers.
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to students, either individually or in small groups, focusing on skill development, adaptive equipment usage, and environmental modifications.
- Implement therapeutic interventions to improve students abilities to participate in educational programs, daily routines, and social interactions.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, and other professionals to integrate occupational therapy goals into students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and classroom activities.
- Monitor and document student progress through regular assessment and data collection, adjusting interventions as necessary to achieve optimal outes.
- Educate and support parents, caregivers, and school staff on strategies to promote students functional independence and success in school settings.
- Stay informed of current research, trends, and best practices in occupational therapy through professional development and continuing education activities.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current Minnesota state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
- Previous experience in pediatric or school-based occupational therapy preferred.
- Knowledge of sensory processing disorders, fine motor delays, and developmental disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, students, families, and caregivers.
- Organizational skills and ability to manage caseload effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
