Position Overview
- Frequency: Per diem, as needed
- Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
- Location: Specialty retail pharmacy with a focus on Medicare/Medicaid and low-income patients.
- Patient Consultation: Engage in thorough patient consultations, especially with individuals managing advanced stages of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, and more. Provide detailed medication instructions, ensuring patients with low literacy levels fully understand their treatment regimens.
- Medication Management: Manage a wide variety of medications (top 200-400 drugs), reviewing and verifying prescriptions, and ensuring that each patient receives the correct medications.
- Education & Support: Offer compassionate guidance to patients and their caregivers, addressing concerns about medication adherence, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
- Communication: Maintain clear and patient-centered communication, particularly with patients who may require additional explanation or support in understanding their medications and treatment plans.
- Team Collaboration: Work alongside a team of pharmacy technicians to ensure efficient pharmacy operations, including prescription processing, and medication dispensing.
- A retail or specialty pharmacist with strong patient consultation skills.
- Experience usingthe Rx30 pharmacy management system for prescription processing and patient records. (Required)
- Demonstrated experience working with patients who have complex, chronic conditions.
