Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and passionate Physical Therapist to join our team. The Physical Therapist will play a vital role in providing specialized physical therapy services to students with disabilities, helping them to access and participate in their educational program. We are looking for a dynamic professional who is dedicated to promoting student health, well-being, and independence through evidence-based practice, collaboration, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct prehensive assessments to evaluate students' physical therapy needs and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the educational team.
- Provide direct physical therapy services to students with disabilities, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, gait training, and adaptive equipment remendations.
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and adjust treatment plans as needed to support student growth and achievement of educational goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, parents, and other professionals to ensure the effective implementation of physical therapy interventions within the educational setting.
- Provide consultation, training, and support to school staff and parents on strategies to promote student participation, independence, and safety in educational activities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student assessments, progress, and services provided in pliance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in individualized education plan (IEP) meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development activities to support student success and team collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT) in the state of North Carolina.
- Certification by the North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
- Certification in Pediatric Physical Therapy (optional but preferred).
- Knowledge of state and federal special education laws, regulations, and best practices related to physical therapy services in educational settings.
- Experience working with children and adolescents with disabilities in a school or pediatric setting preferred.
- Strong munication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide culturally responsive services to students and families.
