As a School Psychologist, you will work closely with students, educators, families, and administrators to address the psychological and emotional needs of students, helping them overcome challenges that may affect their learning and development. You will be responsible for conducting assessments, providing counseling, and offering guidance to improve the mental health and well-being of students.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological assessments for students to evaluate academic, behavioral, and emotional needs
- Develop and implement intervention strategies and individualized support plans for students
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and families to support students' mental health and academic success
- Provide short-term individual and group counseling services to students
- Assist in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Offer crisis intervention and emotional support for students as necessary
- Provide training and support to school staff on mental health awareness, behavior management strategies, and special education processes
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and recommend appropriate interventions
- Maintain confidential student records and documentation according to legal and ethical guidelines
- Advocate for students' emotional and psychological well-being and serve as a resource for families
- Master's or Doctoral degree in School Psychology or related field
- Valid North Carolina School Psychologist certification (or eligibility for certification)
- Experience working in a school setting (preferred)
- Strong understanding of psychological testing, assessment, and diagnosis
- Knowledge of special education laws and processes, including IEP development
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, and school staff
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Experience working with diverse populations and students with special needs
- Familiarity with data-driven decision-making and behavioral interventions
- Crisis intervention and mental health support experience
