Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in Corning, California. The successful candidate will provide interpreting and transliterating services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring effective munication in educational settings. This position involves collaborating with teachers, students, and other school personnel to support student success and facilitate inclusive learning environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in various educational settings, including classrooms, meetings, and school events.
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, maintaining accuracy and clarity of munication.
- Follow ethical guidelines and professional standards of practice for sign language interpreters.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support the educational goals of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Maintain confidentiality of all interpreted information and student records.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Sign Language Interpreting or related field preferred.
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent required.
- California Department of Education (CDE) certification as an Educational Interpreter for the Deaf or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Previous experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings preferred.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of deaf culture.
- Strong munication and interpersonal skills.
Required Licensure and Certifications:
