Responsibilities
- Provide interpretation and translation services using American Sign Language (ASL) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and other school staff.
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, presentations, and other educational materials.
- Support students' participation in various school activities, including assemblies, field trips, and extracurricular events.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to ensure the inclusion and success of students with hearing impairments.
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) or similar credentials.
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and fluent in English.
- Experience working as an interpreter in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of deaf culture and understanding of the unique needs of students with hearing impairments.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different educational environments and work effectively as part of a team.
