Are you a skilled and dedicated Sign Language Interpreter looking for an opportunity to support students in their educational journey? We are seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a full-time Educational Sign Language Interpreter near the Ventura, California area. As an interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating munication between deaf or hard of hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff in the educational setting.
Position Details:
- Location:Ventura, Californiaarea
- Type: Full-Time
- Student Assignment: 1:1 interpreting for astudent
- Certifications Required:
- State of California Certified Sign Language Interpreter - Intermediate
- IEPA of 3.5
Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation services to deaf or hard of hearing studentin the educational setting, ensuring access to instruction and munication.
- Facilitate munication between students and teachers, peers, and other school staff members during instructional time, extracurricular activities, and other school-related events.
- Follow the Code of Professional Conduct for interpreters, maintaining confidentiality and impartiality in all interactions.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other educational professionals to support the academic and social-emotional success of students.
- Provide support and guidance to students in developing self-advocacy and munication skills.
Requirements:
- State of California Certified Sign Language Interpreter - Intermediate
- California Certified - Basic
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Experience working as an educational interpreter preferred
- Excellent munication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
