Job Summary: We are looking for a qualified and passionate Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide effective munication support for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The SLI will work in various settings, including educational environments, munity events, and other locations as needed, ensuring accessibility and fostering inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate munication between deaf/hard of hearing individuals and hearing individuals using American Sign Language (ASL).
Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
Adapt interpretation style to suit the context and audience, whether in educational settings, meetings, or public events.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Collaborate with teachers, staff, and other professionals to support the munication needs of students or clients.
Stay updated on best practices in interpreting and relevant laws and regulations.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
Certification from a recognized interpreting organization (e.g., RID, NAD).
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of deaf culture.
