Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and passionate Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and ensure that all students with disabilities achieve academic and social success.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Use evidence-based teaching strategies and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, related service providers, and administrators to support student success.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as necessary.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Ensure compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Ohio Department of Education (ODE) policies.
- Provide behavior management and social-emotional support to students.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Valid Ohio Teaching License issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
- Special Education endorsement in one or more of the following areas:
- Mild/Moderate Educational Needs (K-12)
- Moderate/Intensive Educational Needs (K-12)
- Early Childhood Intervention Specialist (P-3)
- Completion of an ODE-approved educator preparation program.
- Passing scores on the Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAE):
- Special Education Assessment (043)
- Any required content area or pedagogical assessments based on the teaching assignment.
- FBI/BCI Background Checks: Clearance through Ohio's Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
- Knowledge of Ohios Learning Standards and IEP development processes.
- Proficiency in assistive technology and adaptive educational tools.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in diverse educational settings.
- Training in behavior management techniques and interventions.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
