Job Summary: We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs and will work to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborating with other educators and staff, and fostering the academic and personal growth of students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Modify and adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Provide direct instruction in academic, social, and life skills areas.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to support student needs.
- Assess and track student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and learning.
- Implement behavior management strategies and interventions as needed.
- Stay informed about best practices in special education and comply with state and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Valid Colorado teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with a variety of disabilities, including learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, and autism spectrum disorders.
- Knowledge of Colorado special education laws and regulations, including IDEA.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to use assessment data to inform instruction and track student progress.
- Experience with assistive technology and other resources to support student learning is a plus.
Certifications and Licensure:
- Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Teaching License with an endorsement in Special Education.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred).
Working Conditions:
- The position is primarily based in a classroom setting.
- May involve working with students who have physical or emotional challenges.
- Occasional travel for meetings, professional development, and home visits may be required.
