Position Overview
- Grade Level: 3rd 5th grade
- Classroom Structure: Self-contained classroom with 3 paraeducators, including 1:1 support for a nonverbal student
- Student Population: Primarily students with learning disabilities, some students will be taking the SC ALT-exam
- Classroom Support: 3 paraprofessionals, 1 working 1:1 with a nonverbal student
- Provide instruction to students with a range of learning disabilities in a self-contained setting
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
- Collaborate with paras, parents, and other educational staff to ensure student success
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and academic performance
- Modify lessons and assessments as needed to meet the individual needs of students
- Support students with behavior management strategies and assist in social-emotional development
- Ensure a safe and inclusive classroom environment
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students with learning disabilities and/or developmental disabilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with paraprofessionals, staff, and parents
