Operating Room Technician - OR Tech - Plattsburgh, NY

Description:
This is a 26-week contract position for a certified Operating Room Technician (OR Tech) at a healthcare facility in Plattsburgh, NY. The role requires an experienced OR Tech to support a variety of surgical procedures, including orthopedic, robotics, general surgery, ENT, plastics, neuro, vascular, and spine cases. You will be responsible for ensuring that the operating room is sterile and prepared for surgery, assisting the surgical team, and managing surgical instruments.
This position involves working 12-hour day shifts, from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. You will be required to float to different surgical areas as needed and must be available for on-call shifts. The on-call requirements include weekend shifts every other week (no more than once a month) and one post-shift call per week.
Candidates are required to have at least two years of experience, with a strong background in trauma, ortho, vascular, and spine surgeries. Certified OR Tech candidates are strongly preferred, and the facility also prefers those with CNOR certification. The facility requires candidates to have their work history clearly documented, including facility type, bed count, and details on EMR systems used.
Required Qualifications:
- NBSTSA certification as an OR Tech
- BLS certification required, CNOR preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an OR setting
- Solid knowledge in a variety of surgical specialties, including ortho, robotics, general surgery, ENT, plastics, neuro, and vascular
- Proficiency in vascular and orthopedic spine surgery
- Ability to float between different surgical specialties
- Previous travel experience is preferred
- Must be able to work on-call shifts and weekends (as required)
- Reliable transportation (personal or rental vehicle) is required, as public transportation is not accessible in the area
- Must include proof of license or certification with application submission
- Gaps in employment over 30 days must be explained

- Bi-weekly orientation sessions on Mondays
