Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate operations and oversee workers at commercial and residential solar construction sites, ensuring adherence to project plans, schedules, and safety protocols.
• Lead and mentor a team of solar installers, providing guidance, training, and support to optimize performance and productivity.
• Manage all aspects of the solar installation process, from site mobilization, staging, and equipment setup to equipment installation, electrical wiring, testing & commissioning, and demobilization.
• Collaborate with project managers/coordinators, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution and timely completion.
• Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, identify issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards, including OSHA guidelines and company policies.
• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, clients, and stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and resolve issues.
• Troubleshoot technical problems and implement solutions to ensure the functionality and performance of solar systems.
• Maintain accurate records of project activities, including work hours, materials used, and equipment maintenance.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment for all team members.
• Ensure the company vehicle is equipped with the inventory needed as well as ensure the vehicle is in proper operating condition.
• Ensure manpower and resources are adequate to complete the project.
• Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.
• Monitor expenditures and be mindful of budgetary constraints.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in solar installation or related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a solar foreman or in a leadership role within the solar industry, with a strong track record of successfully managing commercial solar projects.
• In-depth knowledge of solar installation techniques, equipment, and materials, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Extensive experience with the complete installation and commissioning of commercial PV systems on roofs, shade structures, car ports, canopies, and ground mounts.
• Experience performing main service panel upgrades (MPUs), main breaker derates, line side taps, sub panel installation and wiring, circuit relocation, AC disconnects, grounding, bonding, and the ability to bend conduit.
• General electrical construction wiring and testing knowledge.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team toward common goals.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with the capacity to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Familiarity with construction processes, electrical systems, and relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
• Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints, and annotate as-built alterations.
• Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to handle heavy, physical, repetitive movement, and regularly lift 60 lbs.
• Ability to work comfortably and safely on ladders, in attics, basements, sloped roofs, trenches, and rough terrain.
• Ability to work comfortably outdoors in diverse weather conditions including hot, cold, and wet for a full day’s shift.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and respect.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record; willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
