Summary: As a key member of our team, the Solid Waste Technician performs routine manual labor that requires minimal skill and expertise. This role involves driving trucks and light tractors during training, as well as performing various tasks to support operational needs across our organization.
Responsibilities:
- Performs manual labor tasks such as mowing grass, pruning shrubs, raking grass, and removing trash from SWDA property.
- Drives pick-ups on light hauls.
- Operates small tractors, mowers, and trucks without a Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
- Perform daily maintenance on equipment, including greasing and fueling heavy machinery.
- Detailed trucks and equipment for optimal performance.
Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and evening shifts when needed.
- Able to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a courteous manner.
Physical Requirements:
- Visual acuity to read, write, and safely operate garbage trucks.
- Auditory ability to respond to verbal communications.
- Verbal communication skills to answer questions politely and courteously.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to minimize exposure to hazards.
- Body mobility to perform inspections and operate vehicles.
