Job Title: Bilingual Front Desk Medical Reception
Reports to: Revenue Cycle Manager/Team Lead
Job Summary:
Busy West Hartford Ophthalmology practice with 9 satellite offices, looking for a Bilingual (Spanish) Front Desk Medical Receptionist to join our team. This position serves as the liaison between our company and its current and potential patients. The successful candidate will be able to accept ownership for effectively solving patient issues, complaints, and inquiries, keeping patient satisfaction at a the core of every decision and behavior. Provide general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks within reception area.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in translating with our Spanish speaking patients
- Route calls to appropriate resource
- Identify patients’ needs, clarify information, research every issue and provide solutions and/or alternatives
- Enter new patient information into system
- Obtain and verify patient demographics
- Update existing patient information
- Scan documents into the patients’ electronic chart
- Scheduling appointments
- Verify insurance benefits and copayments
- Identify and escalate priority issues
- Patient check-in and check-out
- Collect copayments and other patient balances
- Help with mail distribution and proper flow of correspondence
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Willingness to learn new skills as required by the needs of the practice
- Master new skill sets within 6 months of their introduction
- Available to work Monday through Friday, as well as occasional Saturdays
- Excellent data entry and typing skills
- Excellent active listening, problem solving, verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Superb customer service skills
- Patient focused and adaptability to different personality types
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities and manage time effectively
- Maintain professional appearance (scrubs required) and adhere to the Dress Code as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information as it relates to patients and staff members of the practice.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is required for this position
Ophthalmology Experience Preferred
EMR Used:
- Modernizing Medicine: EMA (Ophthalmology Based)
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year Customer Service (preferred)
- 1 year Computer Skills (preferred)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
Job Type:

Salary:
- $18.91-$21.01 per hour
