Job Description
Solis Applied Science is seeking Senior level Exploitation Specialist – Imagery Scientist professional with extensive expertise in spectral phenomenology, spectroscopy, and multi- and hyperspectral processing. The position is in the Northern Virginia area.
Responsibilities : Assist in developing repeatable hyperspectral non-literal processing and analysis methods to enhance intelligence reporting. Help create target feasibility plans and data collection strategies, including justifications. Review auto detections and identify solid, liquid, and / or gas detections. Document and communicate work, results, and impacts weekly or as requested, to inform intelligence reports and facilitate knowledge sharing.
Required Skills
- A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in image science, remote sensing, earth science, physical science, engineering, computer science, statistics, or a related engineering / science field.
- Proficiency and a minimum of three years of experience in applied image processing and scientific analysis of spectral image data, including but not limited to :
- Knowledge and skills in spectral imaging, phenomenology, and processing techniques, including atmospheric correction, change detection, target detection, scene categorization, land use / cover analysis, and vegetation analysis.
- Understanding of hyperspectral imaging systems, image formation, and phenomenology.
- Experience processing hyperspectral or multispectral imagery from airborne or space-based systems.
- Knowledge of sensor design principles and their impact on performance in this field.
- Proficiency with techniques, algorithms, and spectroscopic analysis for multispectral and hyperspectral image processing.
- Familiarity with signature library development and expertise in using ENVI COTS software or ERDAS IMAGINE.
- Familiarity with commercial and civil data sources.
- Ability to read and understand code / scripts for image processing in languages like IDL, Java, MATLAB, Python, or R.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the GEOINT community.
- Familiarity with the US Intelligence Community, especially imagery collection, exploitation, and GEOINT’s role in intelligence.
- Experience collaborating with national and service intelligence agencies / centers.
- Knowledge of tasking overhead intelligence collection systems.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.
- Basic knowledge of the Windows operating system.
