SUMMARY
The Mechatronics Engineer II is primarily responsible for designing, developing and maintaining systems for the manufacturing of chemicals and engineered products for the dental industry, particularly for a suite of dental water line products. Lead or participate in developing quality improvements, reducing process variation, and developing sustaining projects for the processes and products. There will also be a strong focus on equipment and process development, characterization, and qualification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Manage projects with a focus on designing, constructing and testing new equipment and systems to innovate and develop new products.
- Optimize existing products by designing experiments and building prototypes.
- Design and modify existing processes to reduce the cost and increase efficiency of producing products while still meeting critical product attributes.
- Design, specify, test, and install equipment required to manufacture and test product.
- Understand and adapt to a complex and changing regulatory landscape (EPA, ISO, OSHA etc.)
- Provide engineering expertise to production, quality, marketing, technical support, and management.
- Provide technical and procedural guidance based on analytic decision making. In addition, participate in the design and execution of experimentation and data collection.
- Adheres to all procedural and documentation requirements as defined in the Quality Manual, QSPs, Work Instructions and Forms.
- Consistently demonstrates understanding of quality requirements that apply to tasks.
- Maintain safety procedures for chemical storage, handling, transport, and disposal of both laboratory and manufacturing chemicals.
- Comply with safety and environmental regulations.
- Execute special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Minitab.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of EPA, FDA, and OSHA standards preferred but not required.
- Understanding of and ability to operate within ISO 13485
- Knowledge in water purification preferred but not required.
- Design of Experiment (DOE)
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices.
- Strong grasp of mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
- Strong understanding of system design and integration.
- Project management.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field required.
- 3-5 years of work related experience and training required.
