Medical Step Down RN- Night Shift

Position: Stepdown Unit Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Morristown, NJ

Job Type: Full time, Travel, Temp, W2

Shift: 3x12 - Nights - 7:00PM-7:00AM - Rotating weekends

Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown Unit team. The Stepdown Unit RN will provide specialized nursing care to patients who require a higher level of monitoring and intervention than is available on a general medical-surgical unit, but who do not require intensive care. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to patients in the Stepdown Unit, including ongoing monitoring, assessment, and intervention as needed.
• Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Monitor patients' vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and oxygenation status, recognizing and responding promptly to changes in condition.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and ancillary staff, to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Assist with bedside procedures, such as central line placement, cardiac monitoring, and ventilator management.
• Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment options, and self-care techniques.
• Document all nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner.
• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including infection control and patient safety protocols.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, quality improvement initiatives, and staff education activities to enhance patient outcomes and departmental efficiency.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in acute care nursing, with specific experience in a stepdown or intermediate care unit.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications required.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to nursing care.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
