What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional (Full-Time) position at Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Boston?
Schechter Boston is looking to hire a full-time paraprofessional. The role begins immediately and concludes at the end of the school year (June 2025). The ideal candidate will work 5 days per week 8am-4:15pm with students across grades PreK-3 and support teachers within those classrooms. Additional work hours are available in our After School Program (until 6pm).
Essential Duties
- Maximize student learning by working with individuals and/or small groups to implement classroom lessons.
- Reports directly to the Team Lead for Support or their designee at Stein Campus.
- The Schechter Paraprofessional will work in the general education setting, with students who may/may not have learning differences.
- Work may include reviewing and reinforcing previously introduced lessons and implementing prescribed instruction.
- The Schechter Paraprofessional will help students in the class to participate in classroom activities, assist with transitions, and work with students in small-group settings within the classroom.
- May correct/ review day-to-day work of students in conjunction with the classroom teacher.
The Schechter Paraprofessional will help the teacher in addressing student needs:
- Support the teachers planned lessons, help the student access academic support and support of related therapies including speech and language activities, and occupational therapy activities.
- Perform classroom and other appropriate tasks designated by the teacher or learning specialist.
- Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of all faculty.
- Participate in staff professional development as required.
- Participate as an active member of the Support Team as necessary.
- Establish an effective working relationship with classroom teachers, specialists, and other building staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Lead for support.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Demonstrated interest in working with students.
- Prior experience working with students in a school setting is preferred yet not essential.
- Ability to effectively meet and deal with a variety of students with different learning profiles, and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Pay & Benefits:
- $24-$25/hr
