This part-time position is for the 2025-2026 School Year.
Job Summary
We are seeking to fill a part-time, one-day a week position. Band classes are currently taught to 5th - 8th grade students during the day, but we can be flexible for the right candidate!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The duties of this job include :
Teach performance band to fifth through eighth grade students, both in large band and small group lessons as needed.
Integrate standards of music education into the program.
Provide instruction in a wide range of music. Familiarity with Jewish music is a plus, but not required.
Prepare students to participate in two major concerts per band group each year.
Recruit fifth grade band students, audition and recommend instruments
Coordinate instrument rentals as needed
Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
Communicate with parents to discuss students’ progress as needed.
Maintain professional competence through in-service and professional growth activities.
Demonstrate a commitment to best practice in all dimensions of effective teaching.

Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree of related subject from accredited university
Illinois teaching certificate or equivalent teaching experience.
Ability to demonstrate the proper technique for playing various instruments.
Experience is preferred but not necessary for hiring.
