POSITION: Maintenance - Crew Chief - Grounds
POSITION TYPE: Classified - Maintenance Grade III
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- District approved Gardening/Landscaping/Horticulture certification
- Commercial Pesticide Applicator License
- Shall understand and carry out instructions and be able to read and write the English language.
- Shall be cooperative with supervisors, fellow workers, and school staff. Shall have the ability to perform tasks requiring coordination, strength, and agility.
- Shall exhibit pleasant and dignified manners and be neat in appearance. Shall exhibit acceptable standards of emotional stability, moral character, sound health and be physically able to perform necessary job responsibilities.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds
SUPERVISES: Grade 4 Maintenance - Grounds Crew
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To receive assigned schedule of duties from Supervisor to which assigned, and carry out that schedule, accordingly, including any overtime work as required.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Shall oversee the school grounds as it relates to Lawn Care, shrubs, trees, and general cleanup while supervising the grade 4 positions for assignments.
- Work directly and physically on fields with other staff and oversee/prioritize the athletic field set-ups with Maintenance supervisor and direct athletic field coordination with Maintenance supervisor and the Athletic Departments.
- Performs assigned tasks of semi-skilled and unskilled labor in the maintenance, alteration, and repair of the interior and exterior of buildings, grounds, athletic facilities, equipment, and vehicles owned or maintained by the school district, using hand and power tools, motor vehicles and other equipment.
- Takes direct responsibility for the safe performance of their duties, including the preservation of the safety of students, co-workers, staff, and the members of the community.
- Takes appropriate action to conserve energy sources and to preserve the value of school district property in use or under their charge, reporting deficiencies to the Supervisor.
- Assists in the moving of equipment and the loading and unloading of trucks.
- Reports immediately upon completion of assignment to the Supervisor making the assignment.
- Carries out a “broom clean” cleanup of any trash or debris created in the process of an assigned maintenance task.
- Performs any related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
