POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Maintenance Worker
POSITION TYPE: Classified - General Maintenance - Grade IV
SALARY: Depends on experience
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent is recommended.
Shall have some mechanical aptitude and limited knowledge of general maintenance and repairs.
Shall be able to read, write and communicate in the English language and be able to follow written instructions and schedules.
Shall have demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
Shall exhibit acceptable standards of emotional stability, moral character, sound health and be physically able to perform necessary job responsibilities.
Shall exhibit pleasant manners, be neat in appearance and have the ability to adjust to change.
Shall be dependable, articulate and punctual.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
CONTRACT WORK DAYS: 260 Days
RESPONSIBLE TO: Maintenance Supervisor
SUPERVISES: As assigned by supervisor.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To take direction from immediate supervisor to perform the necessary semi-skilled or unskilled duties required to preserve, maintain and repair school building, grounds, equipment, furnishings, etc.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives work orders and schedule of duties from supervisor and carries out schedule including any overtime work as required.
Performs assigned tasks in the maintenance areas, including but not limited to, painting, alterations, grounds, athletic facilities and equipment.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs snow plowing, lawn cutting, general landscaping and athletic field maintenance as required.
Uses power tools, equipment, vehicles, etc. efficiently and safely, not endangering students, staff, other employees or individuals.
Takes appropriate action to conserve energy and fuel resources and preserves the value of school district property in his/her charge, reporting deficiencies to the Supervisor.
Assists in the moving of equipment and the loading and unloading of trucks.
Reports immediately to the Supervisor making the assignment upon completion of said assignment.
Carries out a “broom clean” cleanup of any trash or debris created in the process of a scheduled maintenance task.
Operates and maintains grounds keeping equipment, i.e. tractors, snow plows, mowers, etc.
Promotes and observes good safety habits on all jobs and equipment.
Participates in in-service training activities.
Shares responsibility for a good maintenance program.
Supports school district policies and procedures.
Performs other such duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor of Maintenance.
