Position Summary
Responsible for industrial automation projects and performing complete systems engineering. Engineering includes component sizing and selection. Candidate should have extensive knowledge with motor drives, programmable controllers, operator interfaces, field devices, communication networks, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, machine safety, and a good understanding of mechanics. Candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and testing of automation systems working in a project team environment.
Job Description Responsibilities :
Analyzes the mechanical design, review customer's requirements, and specifications to determine the optimal controls system solutions.Interfaces directly with Mechanical Engineers, Tooling Designer, and the project manager to support an on time on budget machine delivery.Support procurement and presents status and options as required to maintain budget and delivery schedule.Supports manufacturing to assess progress, provide technical assistance, final inspection and sign off.Provide on-site controls system start-up as required.Review project hardware / software for compliance with applicable codes / standards and assure personnel / machinery safety practices are fully implemented.May be responsible to lead and review all assigned engineering team’s assigned tasks for a larger or complex project or perform design reviews for more junior engineers and technicians on their projectsLeads complex assignments requiring new processes, techniques.Provides mentorship and coaching to less senior engineers and technicians.Responsible for meeting project schedule, engineering hour budgets, and customer satisfaction targets for own activities or on a project leadership basis if assigned in support of the assigned project team.Identifies scope deviations early and often and communicates early and often the impact to hardware cost, schedule, resource needs or skill sets to the project manager and department manager.May assist sales by providing project scope definitions, hardware and labor estimates for proposals.Minimum Experience / Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline.5 years related experience in industrial controls system applications related to variable speed drives, Servo drives systems, PLC , HMI and industrial automation systems.Minimum of 7 years related experience in electrical design, safety system designs including schematics and panel layouts, applying and programming VFD drives, Servo Drives, PLC’s and HMI’s.Minimum of 5 years related experience in fluid power design, including pneumatic schematics and hydraulic schematics systems, applying and programming drives, PLC’s and HMI’s.Minimum of 4 years related experience of controls system applications throughout the project lifecycle from initial design concepts through installation and subsequent client support.Ability to design systems utilizing AutoCAD electrical.Extensive knowledge of Allen-Bradley Powerflex drives, Kinetix drives, Studio 5000, Factory Talk View, GuardLogix Controllers, Sensors, Analog sensors, and PLC platforms.Knowledge of Seimens SIMATIC programming desired.Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to industrial control systems including NEC, NFPA79, UL508A, and UL698.Experience in robotic systems (FANUC or Yaskawa is ideal )Experience vision systems / multi-vision systems (Cognex is ideal)Experience working for an automation systems integrator
Salary : $100,000 - $140,000
