What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Project Engineer position at SoloPoint Solutions (Wisconsin)?
This is a Contract-to-Hire position intended to convert to a permanent role. Projects will involve balancing up to 5 tasks simultaneously, with one focusing on Siemens PLC software and the others on electrical project design.
Key Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in PLC programming
- BSEE Degree Preferred
- 5 years of experience in electrical projects, including:
- 1 year of Siemens PLC experience
- 2 years of Rockwell PLC experience
- 2 years of creating own PLC programs, not just modifying existing ones
- Experience with FAT and SAT
- Preferred: 5-10 years of electrical engineering experience in field startups, wiring, PLC and HMI programming, and VFD setup
- Knowledge of NEC electrical code
- Able to lead and work with others, customer-focused and able to work with challenging individuals
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for durations of 1-2 months at a time
Responsibilities:
- Lead electrical/software engineer, providing technical supervision to other engineers, technicians, and workers
- Troubleshoot and update computer programs, such as PLC code or HMI programs
- Understand, read, design, and mark up single line diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, interconnect, and conduit drawings
- Calculate wire sizes, drive sizes, braking resistors, transformers, contactors, and overload protection
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and solve problems by working with other engineers and service technicians
- Be the engineering/software lead at the site to get equipment ready for testing and accomplish testing in the most effective path forward
- Excellent customer relations attitude, ability to self-teach/learn new material and understand design concepts
- Provide input to design improvements by providing information to the chief engineer
- Able to do at least 20% - 40% travel and have the ability to climb up 50 feet of vertical ladders
