Description
The Activities Assistant will assist the Activities Director with scheduled group activities including preparation, set-up, clean up & facilitating individual events independently and as a team for all residents, family, friends & team members within the community. Act as back up driver for transportation as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- The Activity Assistant is expected to run these activities independently of the Activities Manager.
- Reports to the Activity Manager on a daily basis when scheduled to discuss duties, tasks and resident-related concerns.
- Implement group activities as scheduled by the Activities Manager. This includes preparation, setting up, clean up and facilitating the activity.
- Must be able to document attendance, interactions of residents following the program and input as needed into files.
- Have sufficient computer familiarity to be able to print documents or enter in information into resident data base.
- Under emergency situations, assist with resident transfer and evacuation under the coordination of the Manager on Duty or other persons in charge.
- Participate in voluntary and mandatory on-going education and in-service training.
- Back up driver and activity manager. Drive vehicles to different locations as scheduled by the Activity Manager.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Activity Manager.
Qualifications
- Experience working with seniors with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certified.
- Current county Food Handlers Card.
- Arizona State Caregiver certification through Directed Care preferred.
- Current State driver’s license with good driving record required to transport residents.
- Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational and time management skills are required.
- Must enjoy working with the elderly.
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication in English
- Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and a flexible schedule
- Able to lift a minimum 25 to 75 lbs.
