Description
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining operating procedures and process controls under the direction of the Plant Manager. The Operations Supervisor will also be directing activities in the operating units to manufacture and ship products to customers in a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost-effective manner. This position will have between 15-20 Direct reports that cover 24/7 operations in the facility. The Operations Supervisor may also be assigned to manage small capital projects, typically less than $150K.
To fulfill these responsibilities, the Operations Supervisor will be empowered to manage work priorities, engage the proper resources to develop and implement equipment, process, and administrative standards. In addition, this position will identify training opportunities throughout the plant and will recommend asset selection criteria and installation standards. The Operations Supervisor will monitor department metrics relative to safety, environment, reliability, quality, efficiency, and cost control to continually improve performance.
The Operations Supervisor will work with Maintenance, Purchasing, and Engineering to reduce equipment downtime and restrictions and identify corrective actions using Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP) in terms of safety, operability, maintainability, and reliability.

Education
- BS/BA Technical Field, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Associate Degree in Technical Field w/ at least 5 years of experience in a chemical or similar manufacturing facility

Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a corrosive (strong acid) environment
- Experience working in a Process Safety Management (PSM) and/or Risk Management Plan (RMP) facility
- Experience in applying Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP)
- Experience in Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP)
- 1st Class Stationary Engineer license with the City of Buffalo (or achieve within 2 years)
- Experience in a good management practice such as Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance, Six Sigma, or 5S
Position Details
Reports To: Plant Manager
Travel Requirements: Occasional overnight for training purposes
Shift: Scheduled in-person hours are M-F 7am – 4:00 pm, also includes on call for Operations and a supervisory weekend duty rotation. Process Operation is 24/7, available by phone to interface with operations situationally.
Salary: Dependent on experience $75,000 - $90,000
