Our client, the pioneer in accelerating generative AI known for its revolutionary wafer-scale computer chip, is seeking to add an experienced and sophisticated commercial attorney to lead the company’s complex commercial transaction and IP legal matters.
This role involves leading and negotiating complex and high value commercial transactions with important IP components. The attorney in this role will operate independently in a high growth environment and will be comfortable working collaboratively and proactively within Legal as well as cross-functionally and with external partners. The ability to directly counsel C-Suite members is a must. This position will report directly to the General Counsel. Executives are in-office, which enables critical business knowledge and organizational decisions in a fast-paced environment. So, this attorney will be required to join their colleagues five days a week in-office to maximize success in the role
Key responsibilities include
- Serving as the primary legal point of contact and most senior attorney for our client’s commercial transactions, with focus on high value hardware revenue deals, joint development arrangements, supply chain matters, and other complex transactions with important IP components. Involved in day-to-day tasks and supporting strategic initiatives for these relationships
- Managing, drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements with global corporations across multiple industries, including highly regulated sectors and government programs
- Acting in a leadership position to drive deals to closure with cross-functional colleagues
- Building repeatable processes, procedures and tools to enable the efficient negotiation of, and compliance with, an increasing number of commercial transactions
- Providing mentorship and guidance to colleagues.
- Managing outside counsel effectively.
Qualifications
- At least 12 years of combined law firm and in-house experience in commercial transactions, including significant experience with high-value hardware products.
- Deep familiarity and demonstrated success negotiating large-scale complex hardware and IP-focused agreements without established guardrails.
- Understanding of generative AI and semiconductos.
- Experience with federal government contracts preferred.
- Business acumen and critical thinking with the ability to think on one’s feet and interact confidently with C-Suite executives.
- Strong ability to quickly learn other practice areas, and desire to work in lean team with a lot of exposure and scope.
- Can-do attitude and strong work ethic; no task is beneath you and no problem is unsolvable. Ability to operate unsupervised with attention to detail.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) and bar admission required (California preferred)
Base compensation is targeted between $260,000 and $280,000. This position is also eligible for a cash bonus, a substantial equity grant, and benefits.
