About Role :
Develops plans and specifications, performs analysis, and provides reports on assigned tasks involving design and construction of new facilities or operation and maintenance of existing facilities.
Technically involved in the resolution of equipment and operational problems that may include performing field investigation or inspections, performing design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project.
Often works outside area of assigned duties.
Applies advanced skills in multiple areas. Resolves complex issues which impact business operations both inside and outside own department.
Makes unreviewed decisions related to the area of responsibilities.
Opinions carry significant weight in policy and strategy decisions.
Responsibilities :
Directs, reviews, checks and approves work done by Design Engineers, Engineers, Senior Designers, Designers, Design Drafters, and Drafters.
Responsible for making interpretations and decisions regarding system protection for the Utility transmission system and for furnishing technical clarification and design recommendations.
Responsible charge for conceptual design, execution, and accuracy of complex engineering design projects.
Serves a company expert in electric systems protection and control, substation automation, and substation electrical design.
Provides material specifications and evaluations related to circuit breakers, protective relays, automation, and other related power equipment.
Serves as consultant to planning department and others regarding project alternatives, feasibility, and optimal design.
Serves as a company representative on various industry and national organizations to share and gather knowledge concerning major issues associated with protection, control, and automation of substations and the T&D system.
Solves problems and develops solutions that call for original approach, based on thorough and comprehensive research and technical expertise.
Applies advanced knowledge and engineering principals to create and modify complex designs for protection and control systems of electric substations.
Leads design team, providing guidance and support to team members throughout the design process.
Transfer knowledge to other team members, reviews and consults on engineering design details at various stages of development, and thoroughly checks the completed design for correctness.
Must Haves :
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 6 years related engineering experience
Valid State Drivers License
Professional Engineer designation
