We are currently seeking a dedicated R&D Technician to work closely with our engineers and researchers in maintaining and supporting the powder production facility for our innovative spinoff business, Powders on Demand. The ideal candidate is a hands-on individual who thrives in learning new technologies and enjoys problem-solving within a dynamic team environment. This role involves daily operation of CNC machinery, overseeing and maintaining processing facilities, and supporting the Powders on Demand engineering team through accurate documentation and organization. The position is fast-paced and dynamic, requiring excellent communication skills, a strong team-oriented mindset, and the ability to use and quickly learn new tools. Clear oral and written communication skills are critical. This hands-on position demands quick decision-making to ensure efficient execution of objectives and customer orders. This role is a standard 40-hour per week position on the first shift; however, hours may occasionally fluctuate based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program CNC Lathe to perform production tasks
- Setup, fixture, and inspect components for production tasks
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC machinery
- Equipment troubleshooting and repair
- Apply technical, mechanical, and/or material experience to improve system operations
- Assist with building management tasks
- Maintain accurate documentation of production operations within facility
Required Attributes & Skills
- Must be a US Person according to FAR22 CFR 120.15 - US Person
- Hands-on experience with NC coding and machine operation
- CAD/CAM experience, including an understanding of g-code
- Management experience in a machine shop or material production facility
- Strong experience with thermal processing and mechanical systems
- Experience analyzing production data and preparing reports
- Experience with common manual and power tools
- Ability to multitask and work to deadlines efficiently
- Ability to work in a team
- Ability to take and give direction
Advantageous Attributes & Skills
- B.S. or M.S. in Automation, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering
- Experience operating within an ITAR environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Desire to develop new skills on the job
- Experience with metal powder for additive manufacturing
- Inventory management experience
- Quality control experience
- Equipment inspection experience
- Experience in shipping (specifically shipping of hazardous materials).
