Responsibilities
- Must be able to design novel synthetic routes for metal extraction and biohydrometallurgical processes.
- Evidence of experience in the study of microbiological structures and function for the mining industry
- The right person will be passionate about employing knowledge and techniques from organic chemistry, separation science, physical organic chemistry and biochemistry for applications in the field of additive manufacturing of metals and ceramics.
- Perform a variety of wet lab experiments independently
- Bring Microbial-culture development capabilities to Solvus
- Conduct internal studies and research
- Author SOPs for developed processes
- Develop associated and safe waste disposal practices
- Assist and communicate with other team members
Required Attributes & Skills
- Experience working in the mining industry and hazardous mining waste disposal
- 4 years’ experience in Biological, Organic or Polymeric laboratories
- (OR) 5 years' experience in Chemical Engineering or Materials laboratories
- Demonstrate intellectual communication skills
- Evidence of intellectual capabilities in polymeric or synthetic-organic material synthesis
- Experience with rapid prototyping
- Lift up to 40lbs. unassisted
- Able to use equipment to assist in lifting heavy loads
Advantageous Attributes & Skills
- Ph.D. or equivalent experience in bioengineering, microbiology, genetic engineering, synthetic biology, systems biology, or other relevant fields
- Motivated by a strong curiosity to explore and engineer microbes in the context of biohydrometallurgy
- Good understanding of microbial evolution
- Evidence of engineering microbes via rational and evolutionary methodologies
Other Requirements & Position Details
- This is an in-person (with potentially some remote work) position at our Worcester, MA facility - you must be able to provide your own transportation
- Must be able to work a consistent schedule each week
Salary : $95,000 - $145,000
