Position Description:
The planner is in charge of creating and maintaining the schedules for manufactured products.
Essential responsibilities:
• Plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of industrial or commercial products: Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts, testing requirements, and/or customer orders.
• Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
• Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
• Plans sequence of manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
• Confers with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
• Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
• Responds to requests from all departments and factors the impacts and possibilities of the requests into the production and shipping schedules.
• Communicate production plans and other scheduling items to all applicable departments.
• Prepares production reports.
• May prepare lists of required materials, tools, and equipment.
• Other duties, as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Perform impact analyses on schedule when company or departmental processes are not performing to standard.
• Lead and/or participate in change control activities.
Education Requirements:
• High School Diploma
Competencies/skill Qualifications:
• Experience in manufacturing, production management, production planning, or supporting manufacturing production planning process
• American production and inventory control society (APICS) certification is a plus
• Certified in production and inventory management (CPIM) is a plus
• Computer skills using Microsoft office
• Experience with Fishbowl Inventory is a plus
• Knowledge of forecasting, planning, production scheduling, and shipping functionality and processes
• Knowledge of forecasting and planning principles
• Knowledge of inventory management principles
• Knowledge of production scheduling principles
• Knowledge of mathematics and statistical data analysis
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Obvious enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work
