Somerset Academy Canyons is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative ESE teacher to join our team. ESE Facilitators will work in conjunction with administration, teachers, related service providers, and other support personnel to communicate and address the unique needs of students with disabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or above)
- Valid Florida Department of Education teaching certificate (professional or temporary) in Exceptional Student Education
- Valid Florida Department of Education statement of eligibility in Exceptional Student Education

Core Instructional Responsibilities:
- Provide research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP
- Asses student progress and determine the needs for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques
- Employ various teaching techniques, methods, and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals
- Develop and implement annual Individualized Educational Program (IEPs) for students to include; present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals
- Provide consultation to classroom teachers regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plans, and other instructional interventions to meet the needs of students with disabilities
- Work cooperatively with child study team members and others in developing instructional goals and strategies
- Coordinate the delivery of special education services in each student’s IEP
- Create a positive learning experience with emphasis in individualized instruction using appropriate sources
- Conduct special education evaluations and re-evaluations
- Update and maintain the Accommodations Sharepoint
- Comply with the School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations
- Complete all district and state reporting requirements
- Collaborate and consult with educational professionals and community service providers regarding the needs of students
- Implement a rigorous curriculum aligned with the Florida Standards
- Maintain open and regular communication through conferences and data chats with parents, students, colleagues, and principals to discuss academic, behavioral, and social progress
- Enforce and uphold the school’s mission, vision, values, policies, culture, and model the school’s values in all interactions with students, colleagues, families, and the community
- Work collaboratively as a team
- Comply with the standards of conduct, ethics, and/or conflicts of interest for teachers and/or employees of the school
- Attend department, staff, school, district, and parent meetings
- Participate in various students and school activities
- Perform supervisory duties as assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principals (morning and afternoon duty, administer state tests, etc.)
- Maintain current state licensure(s) and/or certification(s) as required by the law
- Pursue and engage in opportunities for professional growth
- Perform other duties as assigned by Administration
