Somerset Academy Canyons is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Intensive Reading Teacher to join our team. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or above)
- Valid Florida Department of Education teaching certificate (professional or temporary)
- Valid Florida Department of Education statement of eligibility
- Reading Endorsement
- Somerset Academy Canyons is a Drug-Free workplace.

Core Instructional Responsibilities:
- Implement a rigorous curriculum aligned with the Florida Standards
- Prepare lesson plans that differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with various learning styles
- Maintain attendance and grade records as required by the school
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing and use that data to drive instruction
- Ensure that all 504 plans and IEPs are met to support the individual needs of all students
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies; daily activities, materials, and technology that demonstrate an understanding of the various learning styles and needs of all students
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment
- Maintain open and regular communication through conferences and data chats with parents, students, colleagues, and principals to discuss academic, behavioral, and social progress
- Enforce and uphold the school’s mission, vision, values, policies, culture, and model the school’s values in all interactions with students, colleagues, families, and the community
- Demonstrate content mastery
- Work collaboratively as a team
- Adhere to all child abuse reporting requirements/laws
- Comply with the standards of conduct, ethics, and/or conflicts of interest for teachers and/or employees of the school
- Attend department, staff, school, district, and parent meetings
- Participate in various students and school activities
- Perform supervisory duties as assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principals (morning and afternoon duty, administer state tests, etc.)
- Maintain current state licensure(s) and/or certification(s) as required by the law
- Pursue and engage in opportunities for professional growth
- Perform other duties as assigned by Administration
