Essential Functions of the Job:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing the provision of marketing and public relations services for the Somerset County Library System of New Jersey by working with the marketing team to develop and post creative content (copy, images, videos) aligned with brand guidelines across social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.; attending library events to gather needed information and appropriate photo opportunities for social media posts as assigned; utilizing social media management tools to schedule and plan out social media calendars and schedule posts to maintain a consistent online presence; tracking key metrics like impressions, reach, engagement, and follower growth to assess campaign performance; preparing quarterly reports summarizing social media performance and identifying areas for improvement; staying up to date on social media trends as well as library systems trends and incorporating relevant ideas into content strategy; and performing other library-related tasks as assigned by the Director of Marketing.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred; three years experience in social media or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities; must reside in the State of New Jersey within one year of employment unless exempted by law; reliable transportation to work in the office and attend events and programs or work assignments at other off-site locations as required.
Physical Demands: Reading, writing, producing work, and providing verbal assistance to staff and library users in English; manual dexterity to handle books, software, and a variety of other media formats; intermittent standing and walking; occasional bending, reaching, and stooping; lifting and carrying cameras, media equipment and marketing materials weighing up to 35 lbs.; distinguishing sounds at various frequencies and volumes; distance vision sufficient to distinguish people or objects under a variety of light conditions; vision sufficient to view computer screens and equipment under a variety of light conditions.
