Job Description
As the face of Somerset Trust Company, you will provide personable and quick service to our retail branch customers by performing a set of regular procedures and handling customer requests and transactions. Your role includes cashing checks and paying out money, verifying signatures and customer balances, and entering transactions into the computer to record them.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers with a smile
- Receive checks and cash for deposit, verify amount, and examine checks for endorsements
- Cash checks and pay out money after verification of signatures and customer balances
- Enter customers' transactions into the computer to record transactions and issue computer-generated receipts
- Balance currency, coin, and checks in the cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totaled amounts with data displayed on the computer screen
- Recognize opportunities to explain, promote, or sell financial products or services offered by the bank
- Remove deposits from, count, and balance cash in, and night depository
- Accept loan payments
- Resolve customers' issues as they arise
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Three to six months related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedures, operating instructions, and security procedures
- Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with customers or coworkers
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense to perform assigned duties and understand to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
