Job Description-
The Membership Director reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for all sales, marketing, public relations, communication, administrative and member service activities related to retaining and growing the club’s membership. It is a key position and meets regularly with the Board of Directors. This person is expected to provide and understand data and market conditions to advise the General Manager and the Board. The Membership Director must display a wide range of skill sets including strong written and verbal skills, organizational skills, and creativity.
Primary Responsibilities-
-Works effectively in the art of cultivating outside sales leads. Tracks home purchases and move-ins in the Somersett and Northern Reno area and develops contacts with them
-Plans and oversees all planned social sales activities such as promotional receptions, new member parties, and orientation sessions
-Assists in developing and maintaining the atmosphere of a private club that will distinguish SGCC in a positive manner from all similar competition
-Prepares monthly membership reports for the Board
-Develop a Prospective Member Roster from a variety of sources – internal referrals and outside sources
-Coordinates all marketing plans with the GM and staff
-Manages all day-to-day administrative membership matters to include:
-Maintaining membership files
-Follow up on all phone and internet inquiries regarding prospective members
- Follow up on all inquiries or notices regarding current member status or membership status changes
- Processing of new member applications
-Processing of membership status changes
-Processing of membership resignations
-Implements the following marketing, promotional, and follow-up activities:
-Prospective Member Roster
- Marketing Plans, Schedules, and Budgets
- Special Events and Membership Promotions
- Publicity Events and Public Relations
- Exit interviews of resigning members
-Follow up interviews with new members
-Ensures that the following administrative and promotional tools are integrated into the overall sales effort
-Membership application packet
- Membership Welcome packet
- New Member Orientation kit
-Develops a complete understanding of membership classifications, dues/fee schedules, Club By-Laws, Rules and Regs, and the club overall
- Responsible for educating and training staff members on how to direct questions regarding all membership inquiries. Works with employees on how to greet the prospective member, answer phones and assist with questions from members and prospective members.
- Promotes and sells at appropriate special functions hosted at SGCC that are attended by non-members, aka prospective members. Follows up with members entertaining guests at the Club.
-Performs other duties as directed by the General Manager
Experienced Required-
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, with a focus in Communications, Marketing, or a related field
- Substantial private club or hospitality experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a private club setting
- Computer capable with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, as well as expertise in the creation and implementation of a social media strategy
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, as well as public speaking skills
-Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
Compensation-
$70K plus commission
