What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 Summer Programs - Calculus Project: Associate Teacher position at SOMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL?
Job Goals: The mission of The Calculus Project is to use research-supported strategies to increase the representation and success of Black, Hispanic and low-income students in advanced mathematics. There are seven distinct components that support students year-round, and one of these is pre-teaching in the summer. Somerville Public Schools is in partnership with the Calculus Project Organization to bring the TCP program to our students.
Teachers who thrive at TCP love working with kids, are dedicated to their craft, embrace feedback, and actively seek to build connections. As an Associate Teacher, you will support the Lead Teacher and step in to teach classes when other teachers are absent. In addition to classroom support, you will lead a daily advisory block, chaperone students on field trips, and lead team-building and career-exploration activities planned by TCP. It is possible to fill practicum hours while serving as an Associate Teacher.
