Position Overview:
The Moderate-Severe Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with autism and other moderate to severe disabilities. This role includes developing individualized education programs (IEPs), using evidence-based teaching practices, and collaborating with a team of support staff to foster each student's academic, social, and behavioral growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and Implement IEPs: Design individualized plans to meet each student's unique learning needs and goals.
- Provide Specialized Instruction: Use appropriate strategies and materials to teach academic, social, and adaptive skills.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment.
- Data Collection and Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess students' progress and adjust instructional methods to achieve IEP goals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other educators, paraprofessionals, and families to support students' development.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Certification: California Moderate-Severe Special Education credential.
- Experience: Previous experience working with students with autism and/or moderate to severe disabilities is preferred.
